\"\"P\u00e1l Gerzson was born on January 25, 1931 in Hird (southern Hungary). He died in Budapest on May 27, 2008. As a child, his family moved frequently, following the appointments of his father, a veterinarian stationed in different regions, and the constraints of the wartime situation. P\u00e1l Gerzson began his studies at the Gymnasium in Nagyk\u00e1roly (today in Romania), continued them in Ungv\u00e1r (today in Ukraine) and finished them in K\u0151szeg, where he obtained his baccalaureate in 1949. Istv\u00e1n Lelkes, his drawing teacher, noticed his talent and directed him to the Fine Arts School (Beaux-Arts) in Budapest, where Gerzson studied until 1953. His masters are J\u00e1nos Kmetty, Gyula Hincz and Endre Domanovszky. He marries a colleague from the Beaux-Arts. The couple had three children. Gerzson studied geometry at Budapest University, graduating in 1955.<\/p>\n

D\u00e8s 1953, P\u00e1l Gerzson fait partie du Studio des jeunes artistes (Fiatal M\u0171v\u00e9szek St\u00fadi\u00f3ja), puis d\u00e8s 1955, du Fonds artistique (M\u0171v\u00e9szeti Alap). He taught at the Budapest School of Applied Arts between 1960 and 1974. He became a member of the Hungarian Fine Arts Association in 1964. Appointed professor at the Beaux-Arts in 1974, he taught there until his retirement in 1996. In 1988, he was one of the founders of the Hungarian Society of Fine Arts (Magyar Sz\u00e9pm\u00edves T\u00e1rsas\u00e1g). In 1992, he was one of the founders of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. Between 1992 and 1999, he was President of the Hungarian Association of Fine and Applied Arts.<\/p>\n

His professional career is three-fold: painter (he has exhibited regularly since 1954), professor (36 years in total at the two higher education institutions) and important figure in the public life of art in Hungary.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
